Pieces of work I expect to find in your books

Below is a list of pieces of work that I expect to find stuck in your books;

  • Image (print out) of your lego figure from OnShape
  • Description of how you used 3 tools in OnShape
    • eg. a good description with screen shots to show how to use Dimension, Extrude and Loft tools
  • Picture of a lathe (ideally a Colchester Student) and a description of how to use it safely
    • eg. Use of goggles, apron, hair, loose clothing, guards, stop buttons
  • Description (with images) of how to use a tap and die to cut an M3 x 0.5mm thread
    • hint: tap cuts threads inside a hole, a die cuts threads on a bar
  • Photograph (selfie) of you and your finished product

Work for 15th May

You are to ensure that;
a) Your production plan is complete (see examples on my previous blog entry)
b) Your risk assessment for the lathe is complete (see examples on my previous blog entry)
c) You have photographed various aspects of your production process (to do this you may set the work up in the lathe but DO NOT turn it on!)

Once this is completed you are to investigate thread rolling. Watch these videos and produce a production plan that explains how else the threaded bar could be made. You need to mention how this process could be applied to making your g-clamp driver bar.
